Stephanie Fortunato: Hello, and welcome to The Three Bells podcast, one of a series brought to you by AEA Consulting for the Global Cultural Districts Network. I'm Stephanie Fortunato, special projects director for GCDN and today's host.

On this podcast, we explore the cultural life of cities; the relationship between arts, culture, creativity, and community, and the dynamics that manifest along a spectrum of local conditions and global forces.

Regular listeners may well know that this crossroads is an enduring inquiry for GCDN. Among all the trends, highs and lows, cultural districts are microcosms of it all – places where many different systems, sectors and real life people meet.

Communities are always present in our content through representative voices, but we don't always have a chance to go deep on the subject or to hear from community members themselves. It is hard to connect directly or engage meaningfully in a short format, so how can we get that needed community perspective?

I've recently had the privilege of reading a rich set of letters from individuals representing dozens of communities in support of designating a cultural district where they live.

These letters contain stories, ideas, and ambitions that have helped me to think about cultural districts differently. So today on The Three Bells, let's look beyond strategy or policy and start with: letters of support.
